New BTI President opens the doors...
Hi Everyone,
I am pleased to be part of the Boxing Tasmania Incorporated (BTI) team.
I believe we have a strong, dedicated and passionate Committee, intent on developing amateur Boxing in this State, to the highest level possible.
The team we sent to the U19s Nationals on the Gold Coast in May exposed the level of talent we have in Tasmania. Congratulations to all who participated, you did us proud!
The standout aspects of amateur boxing that inspire me are; sportsmanship, the respect each boxer gains for him or herself, the respect they show for others and to witness the progress of those who persevere at the sport; which involves hours of hard work is to be admired.
It’s a great feeling when a young person joins a club and you can see their dedication to the sport, and how they develop socially, physically and mentally. Whether it is basic skill or determination, it’s there and it is special.
Australia will host the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in 2018, so this is the perfect time to start preparing our Boxers for selection at this prestigious level.
BTI under the auspice of Boxing Australia and the Amateur International Boxing Association is the only pathway to Commonwealth and Olympic Games competition and as such we should be unerring in support of those who aspire to reach these heights.
We at BTI believe that with competent, experienced coaches and a strong desire to achieve the best for our athletes, BTI are in a position to deliver on our goal to support and develop strong athletes to represent Tasmania nationally and internationally in the sport of boxing.
I would like to take this opportunity to extend a warm welcome to any clubs within the State who wish to become members of Boxing Tasmania, whether they be new or past members.
We are moving forward with a view of having strong representation at all levels of the sport.
We believe it not about you or I, but US as a team!
Yours Faithfully
Herb Herring | President | Boxing Tasmania Incorporated
