Success for Tasmania! (MEDAL ANNOUNCEMENT)
Boxing Tasmania is lucky to have been represented so well at the 2024 Australian Elite Championships. Our competition team of three and our Tassie R&J have proved to the rest of the country that Tasmania is serious, strong and worthy of respect. Not only that, but it’s exciting how Tasmania has been welcomed and supported by the rest of the country - Australia was extremely happy to see Tasmania at the Elites.
We are proud of our two boxers, Thomas and Liam, who both displayed their hard-earned skills. Both boxers were unlucky to have received facial cuts that stopped them from progressing through the competition, but their performances in the ring were strong, and both Thomas and Liam should be holding their heads high.
Credit to Trent for his work as Team Manager and Coach. Trent showed strong leadership and support for our boxers both inside and outside of the ring.
Shout out also to Gary Cooper for his performance in the neutral corner. Officials play a very important role at these national events and we’re pleased Gary has represented us so well.
We are very excited to announce that Liam McKenzie will be returning to Tasmania with a Runners Up medal for his efforts in the 80kg Men’s division. This division included 10 of the best male 80kg Elite boxers in the country, and Liam took home this award at his first Elite Championships. It’s exciting to think what Liam, Thomas and all of Tasmania are capable of achieving in the years to come.
Congratulations and thanks to all involved in putting together the 2024 Aus Elite Champs. Well done Boxing Australia on a successful event. Thanks to the other States and Territories for your support.
Tassie has a big future ahead
