Recently a team of boxers from Kingston Boxing Club, Latrobe Boxing Club and O’Callaghan’s Boxing Gym represented Tasmania at the Under 19s National Championships in South Australia.

It was a fantastic year for the state – winning five gold medals and one silver medal.

Max Chakouch, Danni Clayton, Maddie Holland, Jemma Howarth and Ethan Tirant all won gold and Brady Rouse brought home a silver.

Erika Creely lost her fight to QLD Boxer Kendall Byrnes, and the division was taken out by Ella Boot, who Creely had fought and beat only weeks before. State Captain Dylan Cochrane and Brody Penny fought hard, but unfortunately didn't get the win.

Also, a special mention goes to Willis Short and Bradley Squires who attended the titles.

A number of our boxers were invited to further develop their skills with Brody Penney being invited to a training camp at the AIS on the 19th of April, and Maddi Holland, Danni Clayton and Jemma Howarth being selected by the A.I.S to attend and train at the Great Britain Boxing Gym, the English Institute of Sport and then fight at the Heringey & Selby Cups in the U.K.

Boxing Tasmania would also like to thank State Coach – Craig Woods, State Manager – Steve Hardy and Coaches Gavin O’Callaghan & Paul Bellchambers for their leadership and conduct.
